I've been taking lo estrin for 21 months, never switched birth control and I've been taking them on time everyday. I'm a Sunday starter and it's says I'm ok after a week but to me it sounds impossible. Could someone explain to me please. Thank you :)
When is the best time to have unprotected sex with loestrin 24 fe?

When I worked in a family planning clinic we had the women wait one cycle before having unprotected sex, if they were monagamous. It is only that first pack that you need back up until the pill can be in place long enough to supress ovulation. The manufacturers of pills now say you are protected in 7 days. I think waiting one cycle is safest. If you have been on them 21 months without fail, then you are certainly protected from a contraceptive standpoint, even during your week of inert pills, or your period week. Just remember that antibiotics reduce effectiveness, so if you go on antibiotics, you need back up while on the antibiotics and for at least 1-2 weeks after you finish them. If you are not monogamous, or your partner is not monogamous, then you should use condoms to protect against STD's. Birth control pills are very effective against pregnancy on their own after that first cycle. Condom use after that is just to protect against STDs. Birth control pills don not protect you from STDs at all. Does that help clear it up for you?
That is when you first start them that you have to use another type of birthcontrol. If you are taking them right, you are protected.
