My doctor recommended this. I have had problems with constipation for a long time; feels like when I do go, I do not empty out.

I hate to disagree with other members, but if your intestinal muscles relax some, you may find that your constipation eases. I've been taking dicyclomine (the generic form of bentyl) for more than 20 years. Taking it on a regular, daily basis can greatly help regulate your system. While nothing works for everyone, it's worth trying to see if it brings you relief.

Bentyl is used for irritable bowel syndrome it works by slowing the natural movement of the gut and relaxing muscles in the stomach and intestines. It helps reduce symptoms of stomach and intestinal cramping by slowing muscle contraction. This is the wrong medicine for you I believe.
