Hi, Imangi!
Auvelity has two active ingredients... bupropion (Wellbutrin) and dextromethorphan (cough suppressant).
BUPROPION:
"Appropriate studies performed to date have not demonstrated geriatric-specific problems that would limit the usefulness of bupropion in the elderly."
DEXTROMETHORPHAN:
"Dextromethorphan (DM) can be generally considered safe for seniors when used appropriately. It's recommended to consult a health care professional or pharmacist, especially if the senior is taking other medications or has underlying health conditions."
Hope this helps. If you still have concerns you can talk with the doctor or a pharmacist.
Best regards, Wildcat
Some further reading said Auvelity hasn't been clinically studied in large groups of patients over 65. On the other hand it's being prescribed experimentally for the treatment of some patients with Alzheimer's.
Thank you!
