Hi, I have been taking Atorvastatin for a couple of years, but recently my medication was raised from 20 mg to 40 mg. I was doing fine with the 40 mg until about 3 weeks ago. I started having nausea every single day and chest pains occasionally and headaches with neck pain also. Things got so bad that I went to the emergency room and I was diagnosed as having anxiety and was sent on my way with nothing else said so I started going through a process of elimination trying to figure out what was going on so I went and got tested for covid to make sure that wasn't the problem and I stopped taking all my supplements to make sure that wasn't the cause and I continued to feel terrible and very anxious. So night before last I forgot to take my Atorvastatin before going to bed and yesterday morning when I got up I had no nausea no headache my neck wasn't hurting and I didn't feel like I was about to jump out of my skin.I felt really good I didn't have any body aches nothing and then last night I took the Atorvastatin again and woke up this morning with the headache the neck ache the body aches everything so I'm feeling pretty sure that it is the Atorvastatin. I will be calling my doctor in the morning. After what I have experienced for the last few weeks I would say a definite yes it causes anxiety.
I wonder if that's what's wrong with me. I know this is generic for Lipitor and good for the heart. And before starting it my meds were controlling my anxiety very well.
I take Suboxone for pain management not Addiction the Dr said Its my only option after 10 years on oxycodone. I also take SEROQUEL 300mg at bed for Anxiety Depression PTSD and insomnia.
I take Klonopin 3mg a day which I am 59 and been on a benzo 40 years for acute Anxiety which in July 2020,
I was switched to from Xanax. Because Klonopin has a longer half life. But this Could possibly be why as soon as I open my eyes I have anxiety and fear something is wrong. It doesn't last long but its annoying when the meds I'm on are supposed to be treating my Anxiety. I was told I will need to be on benzos for life since on so long. But I am going to skip the atorsvastin for a few days and see if it stops the Anxiety.
