How much were you taking and how quickly or slowly did you wean yourself off? I've been on 900 mg daily for five years (for sciatica and lower back pain) and while the gabapentin has reduced the pain considerably, I am concerned about taking it for the rest of my life. I also am not sure if it is blocking the pain, or if my sciatica has gone away on its own (which I know happens). I have read that stopping Gabapentin too quickly can result in severe withdrawal effects.
Has anyone tried weaning themselves off gabapentin and if so, what was your experience?

I’ve been on Gabapentin since 2008. I was at 3600mg per day. I’m weaning off now. Today I start taking 600mg once a day. Every 3 months my dr has changed the dose. The end of July I’ll be off it totally.
