Pharmacies have to order and stock different generic products and usually they stock the least expensive one.
You can either call around to different pharmacies but as someone below suggested try the little mom and pop stores. They fill less prescriptions and may have a supply on hand.
You can ask pharmacies to special order the generic you prefer or, better yet, have your doctor write a script that specifically states to fill it with the product that works for you.
Remember, most insurance companies won't pay for a drug if there's a generic available. A name-brand drug will cost you a lot more money if your insurance company only pays for an available generic.

I’m having this problem as of now. It’s horrible. I don’t understand how this is happening. I’ve been on alprazolam for 20 years. Now, I can only find the round ones and they’re not working.
I get my alprazolam prescription filled at CVS, and they always give me the blue oval tablets. I’ve never had round tablets from them.
Don't use corporate pharmacies. Get into a a self owned pharmacy. Stay away from cvs Walgreens Walmart. Not many pharmacies carry the round ones. I always get the oval ones. Remember go to a small pharmacy. They treat you like family and you don't have to wait 30 days to fill. I get mine every 28 days.
I went to Walgreens and Walmart and they both use the round ones... I feel the same way about the round Xanax. They don't work nearly as well as the oval ones. So, I too am looking for the same Information.
Witch pharmacy fills the blue oval 0.1mg Xanax. the round one don't work as well
If you can find Mylan - they are round with a "score" on them
From what you're describing, it sounds like you are getting Mylan alprazolam, which always worked best for me, but everyone's different. I can tell you that CVS carries the oval pills, but they are made by Sandoz, and they did nothing for me. Also... if you have a preferred manufacturer, RITE-AID is very accommodating if you ask them to get you a particular manufacturer. CVS... not so much, and I don't deal with Walgreens, so I don't know if they would do that for you. My advice would be to just ask the pharmacist. Good luck!
Mylan the round blue and teva, in a word "junk" do not take your prescription to any pharmacy that wont order either ; Sandoz blue ovels and then Greenstone blue ovels are the only ones that even work for me and I've been taking them for over 20 years. Same goes for the 2mg ones also. Because while your trying to get used to taking them you will run out and end up calling your doctor for an early refill. That is not a good idea because even doctors know these generics do not work as well if at all for some people they will either give you a hard time or just say no. I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS PEOPLE TRYING TO FIND A DIFFRENT BRAND WHEN SANDOZ IS NOT AN OPTION .
