Tried several SSRIs and had horrible side effects. Exploring alternatives. Has anyone tried magnesium and l-theanine/theanine for anxiety? If yes, what doses?

Hi, momma!
No, I haven't tried them because I've had excellent experiences with prescription medications. I'm currently taking buspirone which is neither an antidepressant or a benzodiazepine.
Magnesium and l-theanine have a place in ancient Chinese medicine and holistic/homeopathic medicine and can be effective for some people.
If you haven't already Google "magnesium for anxiety" and look for an excellent article from Chandramd. Ditto for l-theanine and look for the article in Psychology Today. Sorry we can't post outside links.

I couldn't find anything in Drugs.com for magnesium in a short search.
Be aware though that even though the supplements are "natural" they can also have side effects and can sometimes interact with certain prescription medications. Maybe get some professional advice from your doctor/naturopath/pharmacist.
Hope this is helpful!
