I been on Lexapro (brand and generic) about 20 years now and didn't notice it had a direct effect with my anemia or Hgb since I'm also genetically anemic (beta thalassemia trait) being half Italian.
Oddly since last November my Hgb dropped below its normal lowest of 10.3 down to 9.2 and still is being monitored by an Anemia guru I have in NYC
Are you having symptoms of dizzy, weakness unlike before ?
Compute your average (normal) Hgb from previous blood tests also.
FYI I'm taking Folic Acid to boost my Hgb per my Doctor, and your B12 might be low have that tested and maybe ask for a monthly B12 injection if its below normal
Hi, Marla!
Yes, it can but it's very rare:
"Uncommon (0.1% to 1% of users): Anemia, hypochromic anemia, leucopenia
Frequency not reported: Thrombocytopenia
Postmarketing reports: Agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, decreased prothrombin, hemolytic anemia"
Have you been diagnosed with anemia? How long have you been taking Lexapro?
