So has anyone been on bupropion long term and then got off this? What was your experience? side effects? Did it change you not being on any antidepressants whatsoever? I am just starting to take this 150mg and I don't want to take this for the "rest" of my life type of thing. I am healthy no health issues or nor allergies. I am 27 female.
Has anyone been on Bupropion long term and then try to get off it? Or is off it and not taking any?

Hi, miley!
I've taken bupropion (450mg/day) for well over 5 years with no side effects other than it doing it's job well and changing my life. I have Bipolar disorder and can't take the SSRI or SNRI antidepressants and had severe bouts of debilitating depression which left me unable to even leave my house..
When we tried to take me off it once I had no discontinuation symptoms at all but my original depressive symptoms came back full force. I have a clinical depression that's hereditary and won't resolve on it's own so I'm taking it for the rest of my life. No way am I ever risking stopping it again and going back to where I was.
That doesn't mean that you'll be on it for life because some people do fine after stopping it, especially if they have a situational depression.
PS, I'm perfectly healthy otherwise and take no other medications except my psych meds.
Best regards and keep a positive attitude working with the medication for a better life.
