Be careful taking anything that has not been prescribed. There are warnings on most Benadryl that advise against using it as a sleep aid for infants. If you own a smart phone I will give another vote for the app headspace. You can practice yoga style deep breathing and mindfulness and even if they work a little you are on your way to solving some of your issues. I use headspace when I feel overly anxious or a panic attack coming on. It helps but does not always eliminate it and I have to add exercise and/or reading. Escapes no one will argue with.
Be very careful with what I am telling you but if you are having major anxiety and have no way to get to any prescription medications via insurance then take 50mg of Benadryl to help. If this does not work then try 100mg of it. If this does not help you then you must push through it on your own.
Exercise, meditation (insight timer or headspace are great apps), and bright light therapy have all helped me. Volunteering, focusing on others, helps me get out of my head and self loathing
