I have posted on here many times so please bear with me.
I deal with ocd, anxiety, depression, and now fatigue and other premenopausal symptoms. I want so much to have a better life. I barely have any real friends to support me. I'm barely working. I want to be able to work and enjoy life.
I have tried all kinds of supplements and been to an expensive integrative doctor.
I am considering either taking low dose thyroid drug for subclinical low thyroid or an antidepressant.
Latest one prescribed is Pristiq. Was in green column on Genesight.
I'm wondering if I should just go with an ssri instead.
Tried Lexapro and feel better, then worse the next day. Sometimes it has given me a fast heart rate.
Thanks for any thoughts or encouragement.

Just a thought. With having many similar issues. Topamax has helped tremendously with so many of these ailments-I have as well. Maybe, something to look into. I have tachycardia I am on Clonidine that also, has helped with a multitude of ailments. One thing to know is a medication can prevent another from getting the most benefit. You probably know this already... I would check with your pharmacist what could be safely taken. There are many medications that are not well know & have off label benefits to help with the ailments you have listed. There is actually, a medication that is derived from melatonin that is out in other countries (trying to pass in the US) that seems promising to benefit from a medication without all the “normal” side effects of and antidepressant. Agomelatine it’s also, for anxious depression. Maybe, something to look into.
I wish you the best Take care!
Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
Hi! Hope you are still around.
Topamax is an anticonvulsant like Lamictal. I tried Lamictal and had some side effects.
I don't know what Clonidine is. I am considering Zoloft but I am so scared to try it.
I took 2 drops of Prozac and had some relief and some side effects. I wanted to get my appetite back so I stopped taking it.
I've read about Agomelatine but I don't know if it's even available.
Please respond if you see this.
Thank you.
I have been reading about it & did some research. They have been trying to approve it by the FDA for some time. It’s under a few different names. I was trying to figure out if, it has been approved and was interrupted before, I finished the article. I have read about other medications & supplements as well.
Clonidine is a BP med. helps with many ailments - not sure if, you would be able to take it but, your doctor would know more than, myself...
Catapres, is the brand name- helps w/ pain, anxiety, ADD, startle reflex, hypertension, tachycardia, people who are going through drug/alcohol withdrawal. Too much to list. BP & ADD is FDA approved much of the other uses are off label.
Topamax helped me so much- before, my insurance cut me off in Jan. I didn’t do well on many medications. Topamax I did very well on.
Prozac made me feel out of control- I wanted it to help badly. It exacerbated my symptoms.
I will try to update you as I find out more.
Magnesium & vitamin D3 and good for anxiety & depression so is fish oil/coQ10- “gaba” just to name a few- some may interact with other meds. “GABA” is not recommend if, you’re on BP Meds. Because, it can lower blood pressure. Ask your doctor/pharmacist if, you can take any vitamins/supplements.
Take care-
In March 2006, Servier announced it had sold the rights to market agomelatine in the United States to Novartis.[49] It was undergoing several phase III clinical trials in the US, and until October 2011 Novartis listed the drug as scheduled for submission to the FDA no earlier than 2012.[50] However, the development for the US market was discontinued in October 2011, when the results from the last of those trials became available.[51]
Agomelatine is under development by Servier for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and has reached phase III clinical trials for this indication, but in August 2017, Servier communicated that development for this indication is currently suspended.[52]
My circumstances are similar to yours. Not entirely certain I know what MVP is. Can you tell me. May have thread issues interests me as this may be something my GP can explain to me. I finally had the occasion to question the effects of a drug but could not locate reliable information anywhere. Have your doctors given any clue on these issues. While their responses may not be dead on I have found them good in provided search criteria that would not occur to me.
MVP is mitral valve prolapse.
I'm not sure what else you are asking.
Thanks, just want to know if you are keeping doctors in the loop. This has been beneficial to me and want your experience for help.
What was beneficial to you?
Genesight?
I haven't found any doctors of psychiatry to be helpful because I can't tolerate anything. Except for the one who prescribed Xanax years ago.
I have found one who is kind, but many are rude.
Sorry I did not read carefully enough that none of the doctors were able to help. Mine is not the greatest but I came to acknowledge that he talked to more mentally ill people that I and forced the conversation in a direction that communicated that I was distrustful of his advice and he changed his thinking.
First, I apologize if I sound blunt. I admit I am irritable right now, which is one reason why I wish I could take a medication.
Yes, doctors see a lot of patients and I've found one who will really spend time with me.
But I still didn't understand you. Are you saying you got him to understand your point of view? What medications have been successful for you?
Yes I got him to understand my current condition and did receive new medications that I hope will alleviate my current problems which are similar to yours. They have not gone away for me but I have hope now.

Hi there. I think I understand now what your were trying to say. Sounds like you were saying you were distrustful of doctors but your doctor helped you to see that and now you put more trust in your doctor.
