I have annal fissure for a year now. Tried Botox, using nitroglycerin, eating plenty of vegitable fruits and taking miralax and senna. Every two months same fissure acts up pain bleeding then heal and comes back with just a little (dry or hard stool) even after I watch what I eat. Want to do LIS surgery but very scared about incontinence. I just want my life back. Can anybody share about LIS surgery experience and how successfull it is?

Yes, these are uncomfortable. I have chosen to hold off on surgery because of what you mentioned. I will also say that I have at least 8 of these with the tags. I did see a surgeon for this, highly recommended for the procedure to correct fissures. He says he no longer does them because of the high failure rate. As mine bleed frequently and have occurred with diarrhea for long periods, I am very careful to use wet wipes without any scent, prescription hydrocortisone cream on the areas to shrink it a bit and don't put it inside, and drink plenty of plain old water. Hydration is the key. If you are having bits of constipated stool, you may well be straining too much as well as short on water. Soda, coffee, alcohol all take water from the bowel. So stay clear while you heal. Make it a point to go only when you have to do so. Some people think they have to do this at a specific time. Forget it as the body doesn't work that way and can cause the problem. Hot liquids are good for moving bowels. My grandmother always had hot water with lemon or some citrus in it. Karen
Thank you for your openion. I am doing all you mentioned so is that mean we have to live with it forever?
For me, until they have a fool proof way to fix it, yes. I don't want diapers forever. But each case is different so gathering information is the most important. Up to you. I do know they want the area healed, so you have time to learn more. If you are prone to this, have a good discussion with your doctor.
