thanks you
No routine blood tests are required.
No not usually. I took it for years (at varying doses) & blood testing was never mentioned. I guess if there is a question of an adverse reaction, or to monitor some organ/cardiovascular effects, etc, which could rarely occur. Also if there is a risk of interaction with other medications. Again, it is very rare though
Delila,
You seem well versed in Amitriptyline. Your feedback to this post seems to suggest that interactions and side effects are rare. As a person totally new to Amitriptyline, I was wondering if you could elaborate on on this. I was prescribed Amitriptyline for insomnia and mild anxiety, but I have not started taking it yet, due to the possibility of incurring a negative response. I am very sensitive to meds, and currently an not taking anything. The majority of reviews I've read (I know bad idea) were fairly positive, but there have been some not so good ones as well, mainly by those who are on multiple meds though.
I am just looking for some reassurance from people who have been on Amitriptyline for longer than a month. LOL
Thanks,

An update.. I've been taking Elavil since August and so far it's been okay. It doesn't help me with sleep, but has helped with anxiety and has tremendously helped with the panic attacks. Still with depression, but not as bad. This antidepressant really takes a bit of time to start working and it slowly starts to work. So anyone that is considering to try this med, can know to hang in there. Sometimes the doctor will try you on several medications at the same time. Don't worry the Doctor knows what he's doing and you know your body.. So working together really can make a big difference.
