Common side effects I’m referring to are drowziness and dizziness.
Also is it better and OK to start at a single low dose at night, 2.5 mg, and work up to 5 mg 3x a day?

Yup, those are very common and generally resolve within just days to a week or so.
It’s best to follow the prescription very carefully but you might minimize the side effects with the gradual increase.
Get you doctor’s okay on the dosage and let them know about the side effects.
