My doctor has prescribed me 40mgs of propranolol for my anxiety, I am so scared about taking any new medication. My anxiety currently is so bad I can't drive my bus. Every time I get in the seat I can't breath I'm sweating I feel like I'm going to faint, I go dizzy light headed and my heart beats so fast. But I know I need to take these but worried about the side effects.
Can anyone help me please?

Battling anxiety is scary. It’s even scarier when we get new medications to try. I can tell you your doctor prescribed a great medication in propranolol based on your symptoms. Propranolol is probably one of the best studied drugs on the planet. It has been around since the 1960’s, and the scientist that discovered it and developed it won the Nobel Peace Prize for medicine. 15 million Americans take it annually. How do I know all this? Well I once was like you, I was prescribed it and was afraid to take it. I can tell you for me, it’s an absolute godsend. It just shuts the symptoms anxiety causes my body (sweating, high heart rate, shaking) down. I did have to experiment with the dosage though. If you’re really scared, work with your doctor and maybe try a lower dose initially. Maybe try 20mg, and see how that feels. That’s what I ended up doing. 40mg a day is on the lower end dose spectrum. People who are prescribed it for high blood pressure can take up to 160mg a day. My wife takes 80mg a day for migraine prevention. We are all different, and unfortunately, finding the best medication at the right dosage takes some trial and error sometimes. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!
Thankyou very much for responding. I'll give it a try when I get it tomorrow. Thank you for taking the time out to help me.
