I’ve been on 25 mg of Lamictal for the last eight years. Finally decided to go off it. My doctor said it’s such a small amount so I can just quit cold turkey, but I’ve had people say that’s not a good idea at all with Lamictal. So I’m going to take half a pill for a week, then go off completely. Is this safe? Should I expect any withdrawal symptoms?

Hi, David!
Generally it's better to taper off Lamictal for a couple of weeks but, as your doctor said, you're on a very tiny dose. Most people take 200-400mg/day.
It wouldn't hurt to reduce you dose but you shouldn't have a problem with discontinuation. If you do the most likely side effects are mood swings, depression, anxiety, and irritability. That's assuming you're taking it for mental health reasons; if it's for a seizure disorder you could possibly have rebound seizures.
