... dose to help control my weight (and it working). I am only planning on using the drug for a few months till I lose the weight. I was just diagnosed with beginning glaucoma in one eye a week ago and wonder if I should stop. My eye doctor did not think it would effect my eyes, but I wanted to double check
Would a 20 mg of Phentermine be all right to take with glaucoma? I was taking half of a prescribed?

There are 2 interactions:
1--MAJOR Interaction: Amphetamines (phentermine) are contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or anatomically narrow angles. They should be avoided in patients with other forms of glaucoma besides narrow angle since madriasis (dilation of the pupil of the eye) may occasionally increase intraoccular pressure.
2--People with type 2 diabetes should be alert for the risk of hypoglycemia and know the symptoms. They should be monitored for possible oral hypoglycemic medication reduction as they lose weight.
There are plenty of weight loss drugs that aren't amphetamines. Why take risks with your eyesight when you can switch to another drug?
