I have been on 10mg valiums three times daily. I have recently been introduced to 1mg clonazepam and I am curious what the strength of the clonazepam 1mg compares to the Valium 10mg.
How does 1mg clonazepam compare to a 10mg Valium in terms of strength?

I am an above the knee amputee and developed a problem called jumpy stump syndrome. I was prescribed 40mg of diazepam and all it did was slightly improve the symptoms. They changed me to 5 mg Clonazepam and the difference was immense. But I would say the strongest ben-zo by far is etizolam 2mg. I would say that is the equivalent of 4-5 10mg diazepam and 4mg of clonazepam. They also work within 5 minutes and last 10 hours.
Per the benzodiazepine equivalency table, the approximate equivalent oral dosage to 10mg of diazepam (Valium) is 0.5mg of clonazepam (Klonopin). So, in this case, 1mg of clonazepam = 20mg of diazepam. Since you’ve been taking 10mg of diazepam three times daily, the equivalent dose of clonazepam is 1.5mg, or 0.5mg three times daily.
Clonazepam is quicker acting. I have taken both and the clonazepam works better for me. 1mg compared to 10mg of valium will have a stronger effect. 1/2 a clonazepam will calm me enough for my anxiety but 1mg will help me sleep. I hope that help.
On a benzodiazepine equivalency chart 0.5mg of clonazepam is the equivalent of 10mg of diazepam. You can get clonazepam doses of 0.5, 1 and 2mg tablets. Diazepam you can get 2, 5 or 10mg tablets.
Clonazepam is a fast acting benzo while diazepam takes slightly longer. The strange thing is clonazepam's effects last longer but diazepam metabolites stay in your system way longer.
Valium is a short acting benzodiazepine. Clonazepam (Klonopin) is a longer acting benzo. 1 mg of Clonazepam is equivalent to about 15 mg of Valium ( diazepam). I’m a retired nurse and do know a little bit about medications.
Valium is classified as an intermediate-acting benzo. Clonazepam is a long-acting benzo. And Xanax is a short-acting benzo. By the way. I have a Master's degree in Biochemistry and I took a Pharmacology course along with the medical students. Do nurses, retired or not. even take a course in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Pharmacology, at a graduate school level no less?
This is totally incorrect. Valium is NOT a short acting benzodiazepine. In fact, it is the opposite. It’s one of the longest acting benzodiazepines available.
I have been prescribed both. 10mg Valium is stronger and longer lasting. 1mg Clonazepam seems to hit you harder at first but actually made me a little uncomfortable and paranoid. Valium kept me on an even keel all the time with no surprises. I never really knew what to expect when I took the Clonazepam. While on Clonazepam I had some behavior problems and was very impulsive.
If someone was prescribed any drug, and the only one they tried was one of the HORRIBLE generics I have learned to stay away from, they'd never know if the perfect Rx for them or not.
It makes me really sad to know this probably happens in a huge percentage of cases.
There can and often is night and day difference from one generic to the next.
Klonopin lasts 8-12 hours. 2mg Klonopin is stronger than 10mg valium. Valium does nothing for me. 1mg Klonopin might be stronger than a 10mg valium.
Don't know the answer.
I would like the answer to the above question! Why the hell do you think I went through the trouble of registering? I don't need any more pen pals. I think I just wasted my time.
Wow, why would ANYONE answer ANYTHING you asked with the attitude you have! Get a grip!
Sorry you're bothered by others seeking answers too, however don't assume anyone wants to be your pen pal, you are not likely to find one here!
What is better 2mg clonipins or 10mg valiuim.
Again, Valium is the stronger medication & lasts longer.
Clonazepam 0.5 is equivalent to 10 mg Valium. Clonazepam has a half life of about 50-80 hours whereas Valium has a half life of about 200 hrs. Valium definitely stays in your system longer.
Valium 10 mg is stronger than klonopin 0.5 mg. Why would you even need to know or care if it works& you aren't allergic?
"Where's Graceland" is emphatically WRONG. Do NOT take this individuals medical advice. Nearly every comment they've made here is false.
Valium IS detected in YOUR blood at that length of time it is NOT working at 200hrs. If a pharm company can make a benzo that works for 200hrs. it would be a miracle drug! Come on people think. Sorry for being so abrupt.
Incorrect. 1 mg Klonopin is the equivalent of 10-15 mg of Valium. I’m a retired nurse that got A’s in pharmacology, thank you.
No it does not.
Valium can be taken from 2-10 mg and 2-4 x day. Klonopin maximum dosage is usually 1 mg taken 3-4 x day, but it can be prescribed in higher doses.
Valium is stronger & lasts longer.
Valium is the stromger & longest lasting benzodiazapine
Valium is the stromger & longest lasting benzodiazapine
The route that you take Valium also effects potency. For instance, 2 mg IV Valium can knock you out as opposed to 10 mg po, or ny mouth.
I am prescribed 2mg clonazepam 4x daily I was just switched to diazepam 10 mg three times daily. So far I would say the clonazepam is stronger. Also I believe valium (diazepam) is faster acting but lasts shorter time
How is that possible? 20mg of valium are equal to 1mg of klonopin!?
valium is SHORT acting and short lived. False statements like this is just confusing more people. People REALLY need to learn about half life and what it really means.
"Where's Graceland" is emphatically WRONG. Do NOT take this individuals medical advice. Nearly every comment they've made here is false. How his or her false post has stayed up this long I don't know, but WARNING: THEY ARE INCORRECT.
wrong 1 mg of clone-in is = to .05 of valium ask your dr
What is .05 of valium? No such pill.Again false info. PLEASE PEOPLE ASK YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE YOU POST HERE!
I’m amazed at the comments given. There is no 0.05 mg of Valium in pill form. If I remember correctly it comes in 1 or 2 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg. Klonopin is 1 mg, 2mg and 4 mg I believe. Valium is short acting and Klonopin is a longer acting med. Just google it !!!
Klonopin can be given a max of 20-40 mg daily
