I have no idea why the dose of excedrin migraine is only 2 in 24hr. If you look at the dose of regular excedrin, which has the same ingredients, the dose is 2 every 6 hrs. The label on the excedrin migraine sounds like its saying you should be seeing the dr if you're having a migraine, not that it would harm you, because it also says if the dr tells you to take more, its ok.
You need to know the actual dose in the pill to be able to compare. We don't have that info, Kaismama. Best not to assume here.
What makes you think I'm assuming. You're assuming I don't know what I'm talking about. Excedrin migraine and excedrin have not only the same ingredients but the same amounts of those ingredients. And tell me i'm wrong because I have a bottle of each right in front of me, and I can still read.
Whoa, calm down. If you have important info like that, please share it. We would appreciate that to understand the situation better, you are not being challenged. You simply weren't clear to me because information was not present by either the writer or anyone else. :-)
It is beyond me what the difference is between regular excedrin and excedrin migraine except for the word migraine on the label. I have it only because it was given to me. I find no difference when I take them and I can find nothing about them that is different.
It was a fair question to ask since other OTC medications come in different doses--e.g. aspirin.
Thanks Sara, I still have no idea what dose people are taking. I have a bottle of 500mg acetaminophen. It replaced our 1000mg bottle. Never saw the other type. Still have no info.
I hope the writer did not harm herself. Toxicity can hit anyone at almost any dose depending upon kidney function and/or undiagnosed kidney disease. The latter is becoming more common. So many debilitating diseases are.
Please be safe and have a better new year than last. Joy is always just in front of us. When we get it right it is always here. Best wishes, Karen
Karen,
Thanks so much for your good wishes. I certainly wish the best for you in 2013. Sara
Plus taking too much of acetominophen which is in Excedrin can cause damage to your liver, which may not be apparent. You had to be taking an average of a pill every 3 hours. Always look on the bottle before taking any medication. And also watch to not mix any medications without looking for interactions and common ingredients like acetominophen. Good luck on this time.
Just in case call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222, and do exactly as they tell you.
The first signs of an acetaminophen overdose include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, sweating, and confusion or weakness. Later symptoms may include pain in your upper stomach, dark urine, and yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes.
An overdose of acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine can also cause ringing in your ears, headache, diarrhea, dizziness, restlessness, hallucinations, fast or slow heart rate, or seizure (convulsions).
