I've been on this therapy before and I know I sound like a jerk, but something came up and I want tomorrow to be my last day of drinking instead of yesterday. Will one 125 mg tablet have an effect on me? I've been on this before and got terrible ill when I tried to drink on Antabuse, but that was after I had been taking it for weeks. Any experience here?
I took 125 mg of Antabuse yesterday. Can I drink tomorrow without getting sick?

I had some Antabuse from 2017. I took 125mg at 7am on Friday. Saturday at 630pm I drank some champagne that was 12.5% alcohol. Felt ok. Drank a little more. Felt ok. Drank about 6oz. Felt ok. So, my takeaway is that Antabuse loses its effectiveness. And, 36 hours after taking 125mg of Antabuse and drinking tells me it loses effectiveness if it is old. For me prescription is 6 years old. Please proceed with caution.
Antabuse is very hard on your liver... one pill of 125 should be out of your system in 10 hours, if your gonna drink go slow..the antabuse reaction takes 20 min to hit, and you will know how bad of a reaction your having by how red your face gets and how fast your heart rate goes... if you feel your pulse pumping quicker then usual you better stop and just drink water for the rest of the day... good luck and be safe!
How do you know this for sure??
I'm on 200ml I took one tablet tuesday night wuld it be safe to drink friday
Just one small isolated dose (125mg to 200mg) becomes fairly ineffective after 48 hours (In my experience anyway) & you're safe to drink, albeit with some facial flushing maybe; red cheeks / red nose. The symptoms often get worse incrementally if you continue drinking more alcohol.
Multiple, regular doses of Antabuse (Disulfiram) are very different however & I would advise real caution: 8 to 10 days at least . The phrase " I've never felt worse in my life ! " is something I've heard a few times from friends after they've drunk very small amounts of alcohol whilst taking Antabuse regularly. Take care !
Hello 773niki. Its cutting it close. You've been taking it daily and the drug is in your system. I know the dose is not the highest. I'd not gamble it. Why put yourself in possible harms way? Years ago I was on Antabuse and know how violently ill I became when taking several drinks after not having taken the drug for several days. Regards and be well, pledge
