Hypersensitivity adverse events
- Very common (10% or more): Immediate hypersensitivity (54%)
- Frequency not reported: Systemic allergic reactions (including sneezing, coughing, itching, shortness of breath, abdominal cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, tachycardia, hypotension, and respiratory failure)[Ref]
Immediate hypersensitivity reactions are characterized by an edematous hive surrounded by a zone of erythema; they occur about 15 to 20 minutes after injection of the antigen. Size of the reaction varies depending on the sensitivity of the individual. Immediate hypersensitivity occurred frequently in AIDS and HIV positive patients.[Ref]
Local
- Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Local pruritus, swelling at test site, vesiculation, vesiculation with weeping edema, induration 22 x 55 mm[Ref]
