Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Cerubidine (daunorubicin)
- istradefylline
Interactions between your drugs
DAUNOrubicin istradefylline
Applies to: Cerubidine (daunorubicin), istradefylline
Istradefylline may increase the blood levels of DAUNOrubicin. This can increase the risk of side effects such as irregular heartbeat, heart failure, and impaired bone marrow function resulting in low numbers of different types of blood cells. You may also be more likely to develop anemia, bleeding problems, or infections due to low blood cell counts. Contact your doctor if you experience potential signs and symptoms of these conditions such as paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, or other flu-like symptoms. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience sudden, unexplained weight gain; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; chest pain; or difficulty breathing, as these may be indications of heart failure. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
istradefylline food
Applies to: istradefylline
Smoking tobacco may reduce the blood levels and effects of istradefylline. Contact your doctor if istradefylline is not adequately controlling your symptoms. It is best to avoid smoking during istradefylline therapy. Talk to a healthcare professional if you have any questions or concerns. If you start smoking or undergo smoking cessation, your doctor may need to monitor you more closely to determine if you need a dose adjustment of istradefylline. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks and may have taken appropriate precautions including adjusting your dose and monitoring you closely for any potential complications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
