Drug Interaction Report
3 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- iron bisglycinate
- sodium bicarbonate / sodium citrate
Interactions between your drugs
sodium bicarbonate iron bisglycinate
Applies to: sodium bicarbonate / sodium citrate, iron bisglycinate
By reducing the acidity level in the stomach, medications like sodium bicarbonate may interfere with the absorption of iron bisglycinate into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness. If you require treatment with both medications, it is recommended that you take iron bisglycinate at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after sodium bicarbonate to help minimize the impact of the interaction. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Drug and food interactions
iron bisglycinate food
Applies to: iron bisglycinate
Food may reduce the absorption and blood levels of iron bisglycinate. In addition, some oral medications can also interfere with iron bisglycinate absorption into the bloodstream, which may make the medication less effective in treating your condition. Likewise, iron bisglycinate may interfere with the absorption of other orally administered medications. You should take iron bisglycinate on an empty stomach at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about how to take this or other medications you are prescribed. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
