Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- nevirapine
- pomalidomide
Interactions between your drugs
nevirapine pomalidomide
Applies to: nevirapine, pomalidomide
MONITOR: Coadministration with nevirapine may decrease the plasma concentrations and therapeutic efficacy of drugs that are substrates of CYP450 3A4. The proposed mechanism is increased clearance due to nevirapine-mediated induction of CYP450 3A4.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if nevirapine is used concomitantly with drugs that are CYP450 3A4 substrates. Dosage adjustments as well as clinical and laboratory monitoring of coadministered drugs should be considered whenever nevirapine is added to or withdrawn from therapy.

Drug and food interactions
pomalidomide food
Applies to: pomalidomide
MONITOR: Cigarette smoking may reduce pomalidomide exposure due to induction of CYP450 1A2, the isoenzyme that is responsible for the metabolic clearance of pomalidomide along with CYP450 3A4.
MANAGEMENT: Patients should be advised that smoking may reduce the efficacy of pomalidomide therapy. Pomalidomide should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after a meal.

Drug Interaction Classification
Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
