GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration of methoxyflurane with other nephrotoxic agents may increase the risk of renal impairment. The precise mechanism has not been delineated.
MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of methoxyflurane with other potentially nephrotoxic agents should generally be avoided. Patients should be advised to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms that may indicate nephrotoxicity such as decreased urine output, sudden weight gain, fluid retention, edema, or shortness of breath.

Ask your doctor before using tolmetin together with ethanol (alcohol). Do not drink alcohol while taking tolmetin. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by tolmetin. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Using methoxyflurane together with ethanol (alcohol) may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with methoxyflurane. Do not use more than the recommended dose of methoxyflurane, and avoid driving, operating machinery, or engaging in potentially hazardous activities requiring mental alertness and motor coordination until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
