Interactions between your drugs

Major

leflunomide bosutinib

Applies to: leflunomide and bosutinib

Using leflunomide together with bosutinib may increase the risk of serious infections. Rarely, these medications may also cause liver damage. Because leflunomide can stay in your blood for a prolonged period after the last dose, interactions with other drugs may occur for some time even after you have stopped taking it. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop signs and symptoms of infection such as fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. You should also seek immediate medical attention if you have fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, itching, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dark colored urine, light colored stools, and/or yellowing of the skin or eyes, as these may be signs and symptoms of liver damage. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Moderate

bosutinib food

Applies to: bosutinib

Bosutinib should be taken with a meal to help with its absorption. Do not consume grapefruit, grapefruit juice, or any supplements that contain grapefruit extract during treatment with bosutinib unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Grapefruit juice can significantly increase the blood levels of bosutinib. You may be more likely to experience side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, liver damage, and impaired bone marrow function resulting in low numbers of different types of blood cells, which can increase the risk of anemia, bleeding problems, and infections. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
