Ophthalmic surgical agents are used during surgical procedures involving the eyes. An ophthalmic viscoelastic agent is a gel injected into the anterior chamber during ophthalmic surgery to maintain the depth of the chamber, protect the corneal endothelium, and stabilize the vitreous.
