Thallous chloride TI-201 is substantially excreted by the kidneys, and the risk of toxic reactions to this drug may be greater in patients with impaired renal function. Care should be taken in the dose selection, and renal function should be monitored in these patients.

The use of thallous chloride Tl-201 in patients suspected or known to have myocardial infarction or ischemia undergoing stress testing might be associated with serious adverse events such as myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, hypotension or hypertension, ECG abnormalities, chest pain, bronchoconstriction, and cerebrovascular events. These patients require continuous clinical monitoring and treatment by following safe, accepted procedures. Care is recommended when using thallous chloride Tl-201 for stress testing in these patients.
