Snake venom interferes with the blood coagulation cascade. Patients may experience coagulopathy due to snakebite and should be monitored for signs and symptoms of recurrent bleeding defects for up to one week or longer at the clinician discretion. If using antivenin (Crotalidae) polyvalent, care should be exercised when treating patients with bleeding defects.
