Cyklx
Pronunciation: Sy-klix
Generic name: articaine ophthalmic solution
Dosage form: eye drops 8%
What is Cyklx?
Cyklx is used to anesthetize the surface of the eye before eye procedures or eye injections in adults and children. A healthcare provider administers it, and the recommended dose is 2 drops applied 30 seconds apart.
Cyklx works by disrupting electrical activity in nerves on the surface of the eye, making them unable to transmit pain messages, and anesthetizing the surface of the eye. Cyklx belongs to the drug class called amide local anesthetics.
Cyklx (articaine) gained FDA approval on August 15, 2025.
Warnings
Do not use if you have a hypersensitivity to articaine, Cyklx, or any of the inactive ingredients in the eyedrop.
For eye surface use only. Cyklx is not for injection or intraocular administration.
After receiving Cyklx, avoid touching or rubbing your eye for 10-20 minutes, since you won't feel pain and could accidentally injure yourself.
Extended use can permanently cloud the cornea and cause vision loss.
Your healthcare provider will make sure the dropper doesn't touch your eye or any surface to prevent contamination.
Only trained healthcare providers should administer this medication.
