Oseltamivir for Influenza "I was diagnosed Thursday with Flu B. The symptoms started the night before. The Dr. said I would be 150% better 24 hours later. It is now Sunday, and while I have managed to keep everything dosage in, it has been a struggle! I did have a flu shot, so between the shot and the Tamiflu, I thought I would be better off. I have not left my bed except to go to the bathroom, as moving my head makes me feel like I have to vomit. I am not sure if I could say this nausea and dizziness is from the flu or Tamiflu, but I am afraid at this point it may be making me more sick than I would be otherwise."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I was on vacation when I started feeling symptoms: fever, body aches, weakness, etc. Once I got back into the States, I went straight to Urgent Care as my symptoms continued. The doctor gave me Tamiflu. She said it's most effective if taken within the first few days the symptoms start, but hopefully, it will help shorten the time left. My fever and body aches were gone by the next morning, thank God. I did experience some dizziness in my head, no vomiting, but severe diarrhea. Oh God, my stomach feels like it's on fire from the inside. I didn't eat much in the days prior to taking it, but I made sure to eat a little something before each dose. I'm unable to return to work until I can get my stomach issues under control. I stopped taking it after 2.5 days."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I feel Tamiflu is a toss-up. I took it for 3 days after being diagnosed with the flu. After 2 days, my throat swelled up and I felt I could not swallow, I was almost at the point I could not breathe. I was terrified. The pain in the throat and adenoid area was excruciating. I wanted to drive to the hospital in the middle of the night and was preparing to do so when I suspected it was the Tamiflu. I calmed down, sipped cool water to make the swelling go down, and rested, not daring to cough or swallow for the rest of the night. I took no more Tamiflu and was better in a day. My flu symptoms were completely gone in 2 days. I believe the Tamiflu also caused me to experience dizziness and foggy thinking. Would I take it again? Probably not, but I do believe it shortened the time I was sick with the flu."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Tested positive for influenza type A. Started taking Tamiflu Tuesday evening (symptoms started Monday afternoon). The next day, all of my excruciating body aches were gone. I have one more pill to take and am suffering from insomnia and a good bit of dizziness (maybe dizzy because I'm not sleeping enough?). Other than that, I feel like most of the flu symptoms are gone. I have a lingering productive cough, but I imagine that takes a while to go away anyways. I always take the medication with a meal. If I'm not hungry, I force myself to eat a piece of bread with peanut butter and a banana. I wouldn't take this on an empty stomach since my directions tell me to take it with a meal. I would take this again if I got the flu again."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Seemed effective in eradicating my flu symptoms quickly... but traded those for a brutal headache and dizziness. I stopped after three days, and two days after stopping, dizziness only new wearing off. Tamiflu? No thanks."

Oseltamivir for Swine Flu "This medication was seriously a lifesaver. I was diagnosed the day after I started showing symptoms and took it pretty much after I left the pharmacy. I went from a 102 fever to normal within six hours. It's day three and I still have a bit of a cough, but I don't feel nearly as wretched as I have the past couple of days. The only complaint I would have is it makes me dizzy if I stand up for too long at a time."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Took the medication 5 days after initial infection after I tested positive for Influenza B. That night when I got back, I had my first dose. It was a liquid since I can’t keep pills down. Absolutely disgusting taste. I could barely keep it down. But after that, my temperature dropped about 1.5 degrees Celsius 30 minutes later. I took Tamiflu for 5 days, and it cleared up my symptoms for the most part. My side effects were not very severe, I actually had a very mild reaction. I felt dizzy and fatigued, but that’s about it."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Tested positive for Flu A. Have to take this med with food even if I don't have an appetite or I throw up. And even then, it causes me to be dizzy and nauseous and a terrible headache... I'd like to think it's reducing some of the virus in my body, with these side effects only on day 2..."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I was diagnosed with flu B two days ago (my symptoms started less than 24 hours before getting diagnosed), and my doctor prescribed me Tamiflu. Not only am I still dealing with flu symptoms (high fevers, body aches, etc.), now I am also dealing with the side effects of this medication. Double whammy! Dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and insomnia (which I find ironic considering the doctors stress how important resting is). On top of that, my anxiety is at an all-time high. This medication may work for a few, but it definitely did more damage than help in my case. I will stop taking it after trying it for 2 days."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I became sick last week Tuesday with a cough and fatigue and a low-grade fever. At the time, it was just a bad cold. I took DayQuil, and it seemed to help, but then on Thursday, I was in the ER, chills, fatigue, headache, stuffy nose, dehydrated, etc. I was not tested for flu, but I was treated for it with Tamiflu. This medicine makes me feel downright awful! It’s every 12 hours. I feel better when it’s wearing off. I dread having to take the next dose. I begin to feel better, and then I take the Tamiflu, and it takes me right back to zero (fatigue, dizziness, nausea, weird breathing, loss of appetite, and slight anxiety). Don’t think I’ll keep taking this medication. I’m supposed to return to work tomorrow, but I’m not so sure if I’ll have the energy to do so. I’ve been home for a week already. I hope this information helps and that you all feel better sooner than later. Drink LOTS OF WATER while taking this medicine."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I do not recommend Tamiflu whatsoever. The first night it gave me diarrhea. I will admit my flu symptoms improved the next day. However, the second night I experienced extreme soreness in my right arm and shoulder that made it difficult to sleep. The third morning I took my first pill of the day, less than an hour later, my face, chest, and stomach were covered with hives. I also had slight dizziness. I immediately stopped taking it. I am a healthy young adult, and a medication has never done this to me. Wish I would have just let the flu run its course."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "My fiancé caught the flu, I could tell by his symptoms and him sleeping all day for 3 days with a high fever. So the moment I felt the body aches, chills, and ran a fever of 101.4, I went to the doctor and was prescribed Tamiflu 75 mg 2 times a day. Was not given a swab test, just by my symptoms, they told me it was the flu. Being pregnant and having the flu puts me at a higher risk for complications, so of course, I wanted to take it to get better. The first pill I took was at night, I woke up feeling so much better, just a little nauseous, so I thought Tamiflu was a lifesaver, but by my third pill, I woke up very dizzy, and it's very scary. I last took a pill yesterday morning and am still feeling dizzy and weird. Doc says to finish, but I refuse!"

Oseltamivir for Influenza "After going over my symptoms (sinus pain, cough, sore throat, and low-grade fever) and being tested for the flu, I was sent home with instructions to take Mucinex, Flonase, Tamiflu, and Tylenol for 5 days. An hour after taking Tamiflu, I felt dizzy, lightheaded, and nauseous, which wore off a few hours later. After doses 2 and 4, I had to take Dramamine to settle my stomach so I could sleep. On day 3, my stomach seemed to tolerate Tamiflu better, but the high feeling (dizzy, lightheaded, and weird heart palpitations) along with stress caused a mild anxiety attack. Ativan calmed things down and allowed me to sleep. By day 4, I was feeling more like myself, but at night Tamiflu gave me insomnia, and I had to take a sleep aid to even get a few hours. Now on day 5, feeling drained and in the ‘high’ phase, I am looking forward to being done. Worth it for keeping the flu at bay, but the side effects are no fun."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I was diagnosed with possible flu Saturday night at Urgent Care after spiking a fever of 103 all of a sudden and generally feeling like rubbish. I had a flu shot. End story, they didn’t actually test me but assumed, gave me a script for Tamiflu and prescription ibuprofen (I have a history of headaches). Initially, I thought it was great. After 2 doses, all the side effects started to hit: insomnia, eye irritations, dizziness, bleeding nose, diarrhea. All for something my regular doctor said wasn’t actually the flu. When I saw my regular doctor on Monday, I was told to finish out the script but rightfully diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Almost a week later, I still haven’t slept a full night. Never again Tamiflu, never."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "My insurance doesn't cover doctor visits, so I went to a minute clinic. Paid way too much for it all and got home with what I thought would help bring relief. The side effects listed seemed mild. I was on day 2 of my symptoms (the worst), which I was told made me a prime candidate to take Tamiflu. I took it as soon as I got home and became extremely nauseous and dizzy. My body was already going through enough, I didn't want to add more issues to the mix. I immediately stopped taking it. Days 1-3 were rough for me, but by day 4, today, I can feel myself slowly getting stronger with much rest, water, and vitamins. I feel like the media is trying to scare everyone into buying this stuff, and the med industry seems to be making a ton of money, as usual. And since when did prescriptions come with coupons? Something is wrong here. I've since spoken with 2 other people who had the same reactions to Tamiflu. I don't think this was worth the $250 of my hard-earned money."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Thursday started feeling like a cold was coming on, woke up Friday to a horrible headache, lower backache, and fever. Felt paralyzed at one point in the worst pain. Went to the doctor, it was flu and pneumonia. She prescribed Tamiflu, explained there may be side effects. Well, I was desperate. I took it, and I didn't feel the best that night, just slept. But the next day, I almost felt totally better! Thank the Lord, with prayers and this medicine, I am doing much better. Eat with it because it can make you a little nauseous. Maybe a little dizzy too, but way better than what I was feeling!!!"

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Side effects may vary from person to person. Practically all my family was diagnosed with influenza type B. My son got it early detected, and I saw improvements in him with the Tamiflu. But in my case, even when I had a 101.5 fever, I was feeling good until I got the Tamiflu. I started to feel very weak to the point of being in bed all the time. I thought it was a coincidence, but today I am fever-free and was very good until I took the 7th capsule (4th day), and I started to have a headache, tiredness, and dizziness again."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "I started aching in my chest at 5:00 pm. By 6:00 pm, I started coughing non-stop. By 7:00 pm, my shoulder muscles were aching. Around 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm, I felt like I was getting a fever, but I didn’t know because I was still at work. Finally, I got home around 2:00 am, took my temperature, and it was 102. I had chills, and my gums even hurt. I knew I had the flu. Fortunately, I had Tamiflu on hand and started taking it within 9 hours of starting flu-like symptoms. That night, I kept the fever, but my coughing became less. The next morning, no fever, felt a little dizzy, but fatigued. Rested that whole day in bed. The following day, I felt cured. Unbelievable how this medicine works if you catch the flu early enough."

For Influenza "I started using this medicine yesterday, and I feel I must share my HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE so some other innocent patients know what can happen. This OVERPRICED medicine makes you more sick - I got nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting twice in a day, dehydration, dizziness. Instead of getting a cure, I'm getting worse and finally discontinuing it, realizing not only my money got WASTED but also my health got worse."

Oseltamivir for Influenza "Started it 12 hours into flu symptoms. Even 4 Advil would not stop the pain and fever. Flu test was negative, but there are many false negatives during flu season, so they prescribed it anyway. I started to feel better by the next morning, the horrible aches and pains and fever were gone. I forgot to take the 8 pm dose before I went to bed, and I woke up with the same horrible aches and fever at 4 AM. Big mistake. So I took it at 4 AM, and the aches are gone now at 9 AM, and fever is down. No nausea, no dizziness, nothing. FYI, if you read the studies, nausea occurs in 1-2% of people. It occurs in 17% of the study participants receiving placebo, so just ignore the reviews of nausea."
