For Pernicious Anemia "Was diagnosed with pernicious anemia and given the shots monthly in my doctor's office for several years. I asked if there was any other treatment, and my doctor found the Nascobal nasal spray, which I started when we found an insurance company that would let me try it. Most would not. I had much better absorption of the B-12 by nasal spray and only needed to use it every 10 days versus weekly. I was able to use it with this proof as long as I had insurance for 10 years until I hit Medicare. Despite my same doctor and the proof of better absorption, they refused to pay for the higher cost of the nasal spray."

For Pernicious Anemia "I was given the option of B12 shots or Nascobal nasal spray to maintain my B12 levels after being diagnosed with pernicious anemia. I chose Nascobal and have been using it for 5 years now. I administer it once every 7 to 10 days. Very easy and much better than shots. I do sometimes get a mild headache a couple of days after taking it. But that's not enough to deter me from using it."
