For Depression "My experience is a bit different from others. I had bipolar disorder. I’ve been on this for a month, and I’ve lost 9 kg, which is great. My mood is a lot better overall. The only issue I have is drowsiness about four hours after I take it, to the point I feel exhausted and need a nap. I’m not working at the moment, so that’s not an issue, but it will be when I’m working. I also have this feeling in the late afternoon of restlessness, and sometimes anxiety comes with it. I can’t sit or lie still. I believe this may be an acute experience of akathisia and will be talking to my doctor when I consider renewing the script. My mood is more tolerable, and my outlook on life is a lot better."

For Major Depressive Disorder "This medication is working. I do have weird dreams and insomnia. Latuda gave me restlessness, and this drug was the next best medication. I have gained weight and am not happy about that side effect. Otherwise, I feel like myself again."

Brexpiprazole "I take this for bipolar type 1 with psychosis at 1 mg. I know it's the subtherapeutic dosage, but I also take Depakote along with it. I started out at a higher dosage but have been able to slowly decrease the dosage. My only main gripe about it is the akathisia. I pace a lot or have the urge to pace or move around constantly. I had that same side effect but worse on Abilify. Other than that, it's probably one of the 'better' atypical antipsychotics that's worked for me in terms of the side effects. It's definitely helped with my depression, paranoia, and anger. At higher doses, it really sedated me to the point where I can't do much of anything and was really apathetic towards life. Honestly, I am grateful for this medication since all the others have practically ruined my life with how awful the side effects were. I would rate Rexulti higher, but the akathisia is pretty annoying to deal with."

For Major Depressive Disorder "It was going great, I hadn't felt so good in years. Until I got restless, then I got anxious, then I was having two panic attacks a day! My whole body felt aflame with this crazy, physically painful anxiety. It was inner torture, I had to go to the hospital, it was that bad."

For Schizophrenia "I actually have bipolar disorder (mainly mania). The first 2 weeks of Rexulti were rough because I got tons of restlessness and akathisia. I stopped for 3 days and restarted at 0.5 mg. Each week increased by 0.5 mg until I got to 2 mg. No problems with restlessness. I am on lithium as well, but before the addition of Rexulti, I was not doing that great with respect to bipolar cycling into mania. I have been stable since the start of Rexulti, with the exception of 4 days where I was depressed/mixed, but this is because I stopped my meds for a few days. It gives me slight increased motivation and better time management, which really surprised me given my past experiences with AAPs. My mood is definitely more stable, and I am not suffering the highs that come with mania."

Brexpiprazole for Schizophrenia "I took it for 1 month, getting up to 3 mg. It had less akathisia feeling than Latuda or Vraylar, but it still had some, which I couldn't tolerate anymore. There was no sedation. The biggest problem for me was sleep. I could not get a good night's sleep on Rexulti. Lastly, I could not think or focus on anything while on 2-3 mg. It made me completely unmotivated to do anything but lay in bed. I had to stop taking it. I hope it works for others."

Brexpiprazole for Major Depressive Disorder "Will be starting med tomorrow? Dr. suggested this med, but I am skeptical because Abilify gave me akathisia! I hope Rexulti works for me. I am also quite surprised how quickly it works for many people. Instead of weeks, it usually works in days. Looking for a good med!"

Brexpiprazole for Depression "I've gained more than 35 kilograms (77 pounds) on this drug. In one year, I was using aripiprazole previously, which caused me akathisia, and now I changed to Rexulti."

Brexpiprazole for Depression "Meh. I feel no difference, to be honest. All it's done is create crazy restlessness and weight gain. Going to go off it."

Brexpiprazole for Schizophrenia "Well, Rexulti would do its job, but side effects made me restless and twitchy. It also is too stimulating and made me insomniac, even if taken in the morning. In fear of tardive dyskinesia because of twitching, I had to switch off."
