I took 50mg of Zoloft for two years to help manage anxiety I was having in college. Never had any side effects or problems.
I stopped taking it 7 months ago because I didn't see a need. Had absolutely no issues going off it.
This past month, I found I needed to be taking it again to curb encroching anxiety. After a week of taking 50mg daily I've developed insomnia, which many say can affect one out of every five people that take Zoloft. They also say it can last from several days to a couple weeks as you continue to take the medication. I've never had any sleeping problems like this in my life before. This has been new and very exhausting.
I've stopped taking the Zoloft entirely as of three days ago, and yet I still have the insomnia. I am not taking any other medications. How much longer should it take for this to pass? Or should I seek professional help?

Hello, you have answered your own question by asking "Or should I seek professional help?" To me this sounds like you're experiencing withdrawal symptoms. What was your dosage? How much and how often? Did you just stop all at once, on your own, without a physician's guidance? First, in order for this (drugs.com) community to help you better, more background information would be beneficial. Self medicating is usually not a good way to go about this. I realize that I'm jumping to conclusions and/or assuming so forgive me. Please seek the advice of a health care professional. Or you can ask a pharmacist if you can't get ahold of a doctor on this holiday weekend.
