I have had a knee replacement but then scar tissue developed and my leg is stiff as a board. Nevertheless I was able to walk while dragging the leg. Suddenly however, I cannot walk because I have no balance while standing. I can only hobble with difficulty using a walker. I have been taking ziprasidone ten years; I wonder if the ziprasidone is causing my loss of balance? I also have tremors in my hands, which I believe the ziprasidone is causing. But mostly I am very concerned with my loss of balance while standing. Has anyone experienced this?
Does ziprasidone cause loss of balance while standing?

For the longest time I did well and then out of nowhere developed Dystonia (uncontrolled movement) so scary. Dr. Didn’t believe how it could be we taped it shows him. I think I know my body more than him even if I didn’t know the word for it. He immediately took me off of it. It was really bad. Just know this is rare.
Hi, Solar!
This is from the literature on ziprasidone (Geodon):
"Dizziness and Lightheadedness: Ziprasidone can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting, particularly when standing up too quickly from a lying or sitting position, which can lead to a loss of balance.
Orthostatic Hypotension: This refers to a drop in blood pressure when standing up, which can also cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting, contributing to balance issues.
Extrapyramidal Symptoms (EPS): Ziprasidone, like other antipsychotics, can cause EPS, which are movement-related side effects. Some EPS, such as tremors, muscle stiffness, and difficulty with movement, can affect balance and coordination."
As masso has said, your symptoms should be discussed with your doctor for professional advice ASAP.
Hope it helps!

Hi,
Loss of balance control is considered a serious side effect, more of the common ones of this atypical antipsychotic which must be reported to your DR. immediately.
