Yes you should take any fiber supplement as well as any vitamins either 4 hours before any medications or 2 hours after you take any medications as both fiber supplements and vitamins will prevent medications from being fully absorb into your system. It is also best to take fiber supplements before a meal and vitamins with food, just in case you were wondering.
I'm assuming that you mean can you take Metamucil in the evening and ranitidine in the morning or several hours apart-not taking them a few minutes of each other. I took both for about 5 years-I still take ranitidine. I loaded up on Ranitidine during the day-then took Metamucil about bedtime. Metamucil consists of fiber that gently enter you digestive system-works into you partially digested food and softens your stool-or forces a bowel movement. If you do not need to take medicine with food-this is the route to go. If you can take your meds at any time-like one ranitidine in the AM and another at night- You might want to consider taking your Metamucil with or shortly after your evening meal-then take the ranitidine at bed time. Another way to handle this is to take one more ranitidine each day to keep your GERD in mind. Remember that metamucil affects the absorption of all meds. This is where slow time released meds are worthless, so take to your doctor about this whenever you get a script. good luck- and it can work quite well
Its usually just better to take fiber at a different time then other meds, because of possible absorption problems from the fiber.
