Vomiting is not a common side effect of a laxative. I am wondering if it is from a virus or if it is from being constipated a long time causing vomiting. Are you passing any stool (pooping)? If no, you should be seen in the ER because you may have a bowel blockage rather than constipation. You should not feel so ill after taking a laxative. You can eat and drink if you feel up to it. In fact, you want to try to stay hydrated so sips of fluids like water, tea, juice, ice chips etc.
Vomiting on Dulcolax is actually quite common I've heard because it's so rough.
Vomiting is very common when taking Ducolex - I vomit quite often when I take it - or if I do not vomit I get severely nauseated and even depressed. I have constipation problems and the only way I can go is by taking laxatives. Ducolex at least helps me with a cleansing bowel movement but the nausea and vomiting are so very unpleasant. I try to eat little bread before I take it and then another piece after I take it to try to avoid vomiting.
I would just like to add becoming nausea shouldn't make you depressed. Upset maybe but not depressed. That's just my small research on it. I don't want people worrying like myself.
Try some hot tea, it might make you go and the cramping etc should stop then. Maybe some toast. Nothing heavier, you'll just barf.
