How long can I take getting off of Lexapro? I've been on Lexapro 20 mg. for about 19 years. I was on it, and Klonopin when I first went to my psychiatrist about 10 years ago with anxiety. He tried to switch out the Lexapro for a couple of others but it never worked because I don't think you can just switch. So he added Gabapentin, still had anxiety, so he added Buspar. Now I just started with a new Psychiatrist and she wants me to slowly try to lower my dose of Lexapro. I've been taking 15 mg 1 night and 20 mg 1 night for about 2 weeks now. I haven't felt any withdrawal symptoms... yet. But now it seems like I should move on to 15 mg. 2 nights in a row, then 20 mg. 1 night. I know this sounds silly but I don't want any withdrawals. I'm not sure if it's even working any more. I think her plan is to put me on Prozac and take me off of Gabapentin. My question is am I just prolonging it by going so slow or is slow withdrawal okay? She told me to go as slow as I wanted to.
