Hi, Sandysdog!
Is there an imprint or other marking on the tablet? All prescription pills must have a logo or imprint so if it doesn't it is probably an OTC medication or supplement, a foreign made pill, or a counterfeit.
Let us know if there is anything on it. You might also show it to your pharmacist to see if they recognize it.

That’s a good thought. Would a pharmacist recognize it or is a common product? Would it be used for toxicities or food poisoning or something like that? We use a charcoal sludge for our animal patients for certain types of gastrointestinal problems…

Common charcoal is made from wood, coconut shell, peat, coal, or petroleum. "Activated charcoal" is a processed form of common charcoal that contains pores that can trap other chemicals and prevent them from being absorbed by the body.

Activated charcoal is used to treat certain types of chemical poisonings.

Activated charcoal has also been used in alternative medicine as an aid in treating gas and indigestion.

I´m not 100% sure because of the shape of the pill. The thing is I saw in Amazon the pill as described by Sandy and they were:
Awafi Mill presents Triangle Charcoal Tablets designed for incense burning, ensuring long hours of mild smoke, but they are in tghe United Arab Emirates.
