I am a breast cancer 4th stage patent at the Johannesburg public hospital for the past 9 years.
I want to know, after taking tamoxifen for approx 7 years, I discovered I had lung, liver and womb.
Only by having an anagram (blood and mammograms regular tests where useless)
Only found this when my heart was irregular. Even though I had complained for ever that i was tired and no energy (I don't think I had side affects with tamoxifen but it did not prevent me getting more cancer) once I was diagnosed. chemo therapy then on to Accord Anastrozole which I have the worst side effect joint/bone/muscle pain/ extreme tiredness/ trouble sleeping.
So I now have been changed to Amomasin with the same side affects.
So my question is what is the better medication?
Aromasin will not work if one stops taking the med, however your oncologist is a better person to advice so, as he knows your medical history well, hope this helps?.
Patricia Ganz, M.D.: There are no known side effects of stopping this medication. You may notice some benefits if you were having side effects.
Hi , well to be honest after taking it for 3 years I think you should ask your Doctor what are the effects of stop using this med for so long.
My oncologist is aware that I am stopping the aromasin. It is his plan. I am just curious.
You should have mentioned that..give me sometime ..let me see what I can come up with ok, and I did do some research, but only found side effects... what we are looking for are withdrawal symptoms... which , I am not 100% certain..there should not be any... but before I answer I must be 100% sure, otherwise it is not good enough!
Hello, I was hoping there were no withdrawal at all.
Remmember I am not a Doctor, I do not have all the answers nor pretend to have them.

The withdrawal rate due to adverse events was in patients with early breast cancer receiving adjuvant treatment with Aromasin® following initial adjuvant tamoxifen therapy. The most commonly reported adverse reactions were hot flushes , arthralgia and fatigue .
The withdrawal rate due to adverse events was in the overall patient population with advanced breast cancer. The most commonly reported adverse reactions were hot flushes and nausea.

My friend I truly hope you do not experience any of the withdrawal symptoms I have found for you, I do not have all the answers and do not know how long these symptoms last. Bare in mind not all organisms react in the same way... meaning some people may experience withdrawal and others may experience none or some... from a caring individual.
Your question refers to stopping the use of the medication, not what side effects the medication causes. I just wanted to clarify this, so there are no misunderstandings.
What is the effect of stopping aromasin?
Side Effects are caused when you are taking the medication.
Withdrawal is when you stop taking the medication.
