I have been on Budesonide 2 x 3 mg a day for 10 months and am trying to get off them, but finding it very hard . I have inflammation of jeujenum , indefinable cause so my Consultant says , which is not helpful to me . I have dense adhesions also from numerous abdominal surgery.
Anyway, has anyone out there succeeded getting off this drug without symptoms flaring , diarrhoea , partial obstruction of bowel in my case ? I have tried reducing by one capsule on alternate days , but still get flare up. Really need to get off these as now getting horrid symptoms including. bruising , throat infections, oral thrush .

The problem you are going to have is that by reducing your dosage you are going to get a flare of your symptoms. This is because the budesonide is helping to reduce your symptoms by keeping the illness under control. You will need to decide which is worse - the side effects of budesonide or the illness itself. If you really want to stop budesonide you should speak with your doctor who will be able to help you with a safe taper and support programme.
