The great debate! The official answer is that alcohol should be avoided or limited while taking venlafaxine because of the potential interaction:

Some people do seem to be able to tolerate the combination but I'd suggest that you limit yourself to a single drink or two. Make sure you're in a safe place until you know how it will affect you.
