Yes, it does. I'm taking 150mg daily and when I drink tea I can notice a difference. I know it interferes due to a side effect that goes away like clockwork when I miss a dose. That same reaction happens when I drink tea. I've been drinking Iced tea my whole life and never had this reaction until I was prescribed Amitriptyline.
There is a thought that black tea may decrease the absorption of amitriptyline. It is therefore recommended that patients should take these at least two hours apart.
This is a myth. I take amitryptiline and drink black tea and chamomile on a daily basis. The only beverages that will interfere with it are grapefruit juice and any kind of alcohol. Drink your tea and enjoy.
