at the age of 65- I feel the risks will outnumber the positives.
How do I taper off taking estradiol? I've been on it for more than five years?

I am going to be 63 in a couple of weeks and have been on this for about 10 years. My dr. also told me to wean off of it. I love it - but thought I probably should stop taking it. She said to change the patch every other week for about a month.
Did someone tell you you have to wean off of it? I can't find anything about dependency with it. I just stopped taking mine,no weaning off. I stopped it because I lost my insurance, but I would prefer to be back on it if I could.
Yes- my doctor said at my age it might be better to not take it and to just wean off slowly - but after reading all the side effects that could and have happened- I feel like I want to get off sooner than later.and yes almost everything you take on a regular basis can produce withdrawal problems ( including an aspirin regimen)
