I am taking Align Provo and just got prescribed Xifaxan. Since Align is a probiotic and Xifaxan is an antibiotic does this cancel each other’s effectiveness? Thanks

No, when you take Xifaxan with a probiotic, neither cancels out the effect of the other, although you may get the most benefit from both by separating the times at which you take them as much as you conveniently can. Xifaxan is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, but it does not wipe out all of the microbiome in your gut and in fact leaves it substantially unchanged overall. Xifaxan will kill beneficial and harmful bacteria, but it changes conditions in the gut to favor the growth of beneficial bacteria, shifting the balance in a healthful direction. Probiotics will reenforce that shift even while you are taking Xifaxan.
When I take antibiotics I take them in the mornings and the probiotics in the evenings.
I suggest you consult with your Pharmacist and/or your Dr..
