The doctor prescribed me Xanax for my anxiety, and I haven't used any in 2 weeks. Me and a buddy of mine went drinking yesterday and I had three to four craft beers, they were pretty strong and I got hammered. 24 hours later I took .50 mg of Xanax, I know I'm probably ok but I'm still worried because you hear about people taking Xanax and alcohol and I just want to make sure that I'm okay. I'm not taking them together, do you guys think it should be okay?
Taking Xanax a day after drinking three to four beers?

Hey, KoolAid! You took them far enough apart not to have had a serious interaction, but for the future keep in mind that depending on your metabolism and the amount of alcohol you consume that traces can remain in your system for as long as 80 hours or more.
This is what can happen... and believe me I've answered questions from people who have experienced this:
"Using ALPRAZOLAM together with ETHANOL can increase nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment."
Talk about a sloppy and dangerous drunk!
Just remember not to mix the two of them too closely together or your brain and liver will let you know you've made a bad mistake.
Best regards, Wildcat
PS, don't let your doctor know you "got hammered" or you'll be blacklisted.
That's a very low dose and you should be fine.
I figured as much, having anxiety I worry about everything. Lol. Thank you.
My life is the same... everything gets worried about. Don't tell your prescribing health care provider you did this or you may get black-flagged.
Oh really? Did not know this! Thanks for the heads up!
You most likely be scolded and maybe cut off. The only time I'd mention that is if I was in the emergency room and a doctor asked what was in my system. That's when you shouldn't lie or hide.
