I have started drinking sweet tea quit often lately, can this be the cause of me having frequent heartburn?? I have never really had it much. Although I have had it a couple of times. But the past few weeks I have had it every single night. I have started drinking a lot of sweet tea trying to cut back on soda. Can this be the cause of my heartburn?

I hope that you are doing well. I don't think that sweet tea is the cause of your heartburn.I am assuming that sweet tea is regular tea with sugar. It could be something that you have been eating or it could be a side effect
of one of your medicates or treatment.
Most sweet teas actually have more sugar than pop/soda. It would not cause heartburn but too much sugar can aggravate it.
Sweet tea upsets my tummy.
Many things can cause GERD. I find sugar alone, like in the tea or a soda, can really upset my stomach. In particular, it makes me very thirsty, diabetes, and light headed. Though a soda is now a rare event and taste like a glass of sugar to me, I stay away from it. Other parts of the diet, eating before sleeping, hiatal hernia, ulcer, lots of things cause heartburn and burping. Your doctor will help sort it out. If not controlled you are open to eroded esophagus or cancer. Just not worth that tea is it? Have you been checked for diabetes? Cravings for sugar are often part of that dynamic.
Sorry, but better stop using both. Take tums or whatever your doctor recommends. This is so common these days, sugar is just one culprit. For some spicey food. For others, deep fried foods because of the fat. I like watermelon for sweets. Never have a problem with it.good luck. Karen
I too find I have heartburn when I drink sweet tea. I'm no doctor but I have noticed it is prevalent when I drink Tea
Yes sweet or not if it is caffeinated will cause acid reflux or GERD to flare up.
