I already have a baseline tremor & Zoloft made it 10x worse! I am heading back to the doctor about it. I hope to find one that will not intensify my tremors. I am worried they all will. I need one for my anxiety & depression. I know we all are different, but anyone know of one that will not cause tremors? Please help!
I need a SSRI that doesn't cause tremors???

I have familial tremor. Every ssri I've taken has given me tremors. Right now I'm on nothing but need to go back. I am facing the same dilemma. My neurologist told me Paxil and Lexapro are the best choice for us. Paxil I got tremors from. I'm about to try Lexapro. I will let you know. You're best bet is asking your neurologist. Zoloft not good. Just got off that. Any help out there? Good Luck!
I also have familial tremor and depression. I am currently on Celexa and definitely having a tougher time with tremors than before taking it. Also wondered if you have found any medications to be effective for treating your familial tremor?
I am in the same boat, have essential tremor and depression. Currently on primidone and propranolol for tremors BUT propranolol causes depression. And Prozac makes tremors worse. What a vicious cycle we are in. I guess I will try Paxil or Lexapro and give it a shot.
Hello anxioustocalm. I believe Escitalopram/Lexapro might help you. It has its share of side effects as the SSRIs carry thier share, but tremors is considered to be low in that area. Best of wishes, pledge
Thank you. If I could find one that helps with anxiety and depression without the tremors then I can handle the other side effects. Do you know if Paxil would be good? My insurance doesn't cover Lexapro but maybe I can get my doctor to override it.
Hello again. I was just shutting down and your comment arrived in my mailbox. I take Paxil, the generic being Paroxetine. 60mg. Aside from fatique, no side effects to mention. No tremors. Bit of an appetite increase but manageable. I give it 4 stars. I do notice when I take the drug late (I split it through 3 separate doses) only because it helps me to do so.
Thanks. I will ask my doctor. I hope to find one that will help but not cause my tremors to get crazy.
I do understand and hopefully, your doctor agrees. Have a great end of the week.
Thanks
You are welcome anf good luck.
Escitalopram might not work actually, i just had to stop taking them because i had very intense tremors, i didnt know it was from the pills until i stopped taking them and now im in the same position as you. Im too scared to take anything else because i can not go through that again. I was just perscribed paxil but i was looking up the side effects and it also had tremor listed
