I am taking clindamycin for a dental problem, I was told to drink an 8 ounce glass of water and to not lie down for at least10 minutes after taking it, why?
Why must I sit up after taking my medication?

Answers
To prevent the clindamycin from remaining in your stomach. Believe me, you won't like what happens if you don't (voice of experience, here.) Same reason to take clindy with food. It's unbelievably rough on your stomach. Remaining vertical and drinking as much water as you can stand will speed the clindamycin through your stomach and into your intestinal track.
