Any risks of taking Trazodone and Cymbalta together?

I'm on 100MG of Trazodone and my Dr prescribed Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pains. He's started me on a 30mg dosage of Cymbalta but my heart is beating out of my chest on first day and I feel extremely anxious.
Is it even safe to take these 2 drugs together and can you take them both at the same time?

I hope that you contacted your doctor about your symptoms. The fact that others may not have had a reaction, doesn't mean that you aren't having a reaction. Those symptoms are not good ones to have.

I have been taking trazodone 100mg for over 10 years. I also take Cymbalta 60 mgs as well. I take Cymbalta in the a.m. trazodone at night for sleep. Never an issue.

Drs. are human and DO make mistakes. Your symptoms were significant enough to cause you to question whether the medication is good for you. I believe you were right to question it. Anxiety with a heart rate elevated as yours was is not safe to maintain for long periods of time. If your symptoms have reoccured since you first wrote about them your Dr. definitely needs to know.

Yes, I agree with you. A doc is not always right just because he's a doc. I've contact ed him and we decided to cancel this treatment.

I draw a blank on understanding what you just said. I guess I'm behind the times somehow? Could you explain, please?

Doctor's do make mistakes. They are human too. Trazadone and Cymbalta can not be taken together. I am glad you contacted your Doctor... keep well. :)
If your Dr says it's okay then it's okay, that's who you should be asking, especially with these 2 meds, not to be messed with. Please contact your Dr.

To tell you what can happen so they don't get their butts sued. They can cause serotonin syndrome, however that is rare.

Yes! These drugs are NOT compatible: Using traZODone together with DULoxetine can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe cases may result in coma and even death. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms while taking the medications.
Don't panic, your anxiety may feel worse if you do. Just keep breathing slowly and call your Dr. or go to the Emergency Room. Don't wait around for the Dr. if s/he doesn't call back soon. You may need someone else to drive.

I'm slowly getting better than when I took the meds at 12 noon. Thank you. I am a bit baffled that my Dr. prescribed this tbh. Very nice of you to check back.

Good to hear you are doing better. I was concerned that you had recently taken the cymbalta and were just beginning to feel the effects.
